Steps to Employment returns to support local people across Burnley

Local people looking to build their confidence, develop new skills or take the next step towards employment will soon be able to access support through the return of the Steps to Employment Programme.

Delivered by Calico Enterprise in partnership with Burnley Borough Council, the programme will begin on Monday 2 November 2026 and run through to March 2028, helping residents across Burnley and Padiham move closer to work, training and other opportunities.

The programme is led by Employment Coach Chris Marsh, who will provide one-to-one support tailored to each person’s individual circumstances and goals. Whether someone needs help updating their CV, preparing for interviews, building confidence or exploring training opportunities, the service is designed to offer practical support every step of the way.

Chris will be available at the following locations:

  • Down Town (above New Look, Charter Walk Shopping Centre, Burnley BB11 1QJ) – Mondays and Tuesdays
  • Calico Offices (Centenary Court, Croft Street, Burnley BB11 2ED) – Wednesdays
  • Padiham Town Hall (83 Burnley Road, Padiham, Burnley BB12 8BL) – Every second Thursday

Finding work isn’t always straightforward, and for many people there can be challenges along the way. Steps to Employment recognises that everyone’s journey is different, offering personalised support to help people overcome barriers and focus on their next steps.

Over the years, the programme has helped local residents gain new skills, increase their confidence and move closer to employment. With the continued support of Burnley Borough Council, Calico Enterprise is looking forward to building on that success and supporting even more people across the borough.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the programme or referring someone who may benefit is encouraged to get in touch.
