Calico Enterprise have won SME Employer of Year award at the Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards, organised by Lancashire Post, for their unique approach in their apprenticeship offer.
Calico Enterprise’s apprenticeship offer stood out due to the opportunities and support provided to those at a disadvantage and the ability to make a difference to people’s lives in the community.
The winners were announced as part of an awards ceremony at The Great Hall at Lancaster University. The awards celebrate and recognise the hard work of individuals or organisations involved in apprenticeships and celebrating young people who shape the future.
Calico Enterprise is working and leading on a variety of employment schemes for young people across Lancashire and the North West.
In partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board, Calico Enterprise has supported 287 apprentices across the North West as part of Constructing the Future Shared Apprenticeship scheme.
Calico Enterprise is also leading on a Burnley Connected Futures Partnership which has gained Government involvement to improve employment opportunities for young people in the town. The Connected Futures programme is Youth Futures Foundations flagship fund to support young people into jobs.
Working in partnership with Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction, as part of The Calico Group, Calico Enterprise are supporting Ring Stones in making strides in the area to invest in local young trades people.
Ring Stones are set to have apprentices make up 25% of their workforce with further opportunities to be created through the UK Year of Service managed by Calico Enterprise.
