As a result, we provide a low-risk and innovative way for contractors to hire apprentices without the long-term commitment.
The flexible nature of this scheme provides your business with the chance to secure new contracts while also creating opportunities for apprentices.
While you would be hosting the apprentice on-site, The Shared Apprenticeship Scheme would actually employ the apprentice. As a result, we would also take care of all the HR responsibilities associated with employment.

Constructing the Future
In partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Constructing the Future connects ambitious, talented and hard working apprentices with the perfect construction apprenticeship vacancy.
So far, we have employed over 200 apprentices across all five North West counties, won a Chartered Institute of Housing award for Partnership of the Year and have also been quoted in the House of Lords as an example of good practice.
Benefits to you, the contractor
Our Shared Apprenticeship Service gives you the opportunity to hire apprentices, even if you can’t commit to the full two/three-year duration – a placement can be as short as twelve weeks.
- Because the apprentice is employed by us, the employment responsibilities will be taken care of, and you will only be re-charged for the time the apprentice is with you.
- Your business will also benefit from significantly reduced recruitment costs.
- We will fully support your apprentice and are committed to helping them complete their qualification. As a result, around 90% of our apprentices go on to gain full-time employment within the sector. You also have the option to take over the apprentice’s employment at any stage, but there is no obligation to do so.
At the end of the placement, the apprentice is simply handed back to the Shared Apprenticeship Service. After that, we will organise their next placement within the local area.

In doing so, we reduce the workload associated with achieving employment and skills targets from the contractor, allowing them to focus on the core project.
