Burnley’s DFN Project SEARCH programme received recognition at the recent DFN Project SEARCH annual conference. The programme secured two awards, marking a significant moment in acknowledging the success of the programme.
DFN Project SEARCH provides Supported Internships for people aged 18-24 living with learning difficulties and/or autism. In Burnley, the programme supports people with work placements within The Calico Group and local businesses. The Calico Group is the host employer working in partnership with Burnley College and Lancashire County Council.
At the annual conference for DFN Project Search, the Burnley partnership won awards for outcomes of the team with 87% of interns going onto employment and the Data Impact award.
Jason Cherry, an intern from last year’s cohort at Project SEARCH Burnley, swept home an award, becoming winner of Young Advocate of the Year.
Sarah Moorhouse, Tutor at Project Search Burnley said: ‘I am so proud of the team’s achievement, we all continue to work hard to ensure young people with disabilities gain the opportunities that they need to be successful in work.’
Jason Cherry, Graduate at Project Search Burnley said: ‘Project SEARCH has been a great adventure and I am very proud of the working man that I have become.’
